In accordance with Georgia law, the Columbia County School District Board of Education will be hosting three public hearings to allow concerned citizens to comment on whether the School District’s millage rate of 18.3 mills should be subject to rollback. The meeting will also be live-streamed for the public's convenience at http://bit.ly/ccsdlive.
The first public hearing will take place Monday, July 20, 2020, at 8:00 a.m. at the Columbia County Board of Education, located at 4781 Hereford Farm Rd., Evans, GA 30809. Both the second and third public hearings will take place on the same day, at 8:00 a.m., and again at 6:00 p.m. Both will be held at the Columbia County Board of Education.

The meeting will also be live-streamed for the public's convenience at http://bit.ly/ccsdlive. Interested parties who wish to comment, but not attend due to concerns surrounding COVID-19, may ask questions or make comments regarding the millage rate during the public question and answer section of the meeting by calling the following phone number: 706-541-2723 Ext. 5151.

The Columbia County School District has maintained an 18.3 millage rate since 2015. However, due to an overall increase in the net assessed property value as calculated by the Columbia County Tax Assessors Office, the proposed rate is considered an increase over the rollback rate.

Because the School District relies heavily upon property taxes to fund education and to help accommodate growth in our county, the superintendent plans to recommend that the Board of Education approve the current 18.3 millage rate to allow the District to continue to provide a great education for students and staff in a safe, positive, and clean environment.
